The parish celebrates the Baptism of infants and preschool children on a regular basis. Some are scheduled during a weekend Mass, others are scheduled on Saturday mornings. First time parents are asked to attend Baptism Preparation classes before scheduling a date for the sacrament. These sessions are provided several times a year in both english and spanish. To avoid delaying the baptism of their children, parents are encouraged to participate in these meetings before the birth of their child.
The preparation of school-aged children for Baptism is coordinated with the faith formation program. Please contact the office for more information.
When can we have our baby baptized?
First time parents are asked to complete our Parent Preparation Program. This involves attending one session that is 60 minutes.
When new parents have completed the preparation classes, they may arrange a date for baptism by calling the office. We typically have one Saturday a month set aside for baptisms in Spanish and a separate Saturday for English baptisms. If you are seeking baptism during one of the weekend masses, there is more flexibility regarding the date.
Requirements for Godparents?
You may choose one or two godparents. If you choose two godparents, one should be a man and one a woman. A godparent must be Catholic, sixteen or older, confirmed, have made his/her first communion, and leads a life in harmony with our faith and with the role she/he undertakes as a godparent. A non-Catholic Christian may not be a godparent, but may be a witness along with a Catholic godparent.
