The Jesuit Volunteer experience connects young people with work and group interaction opportunities that focus on community, spirituality, simple living, and social and ecological justice. Our St. Henry JVs live very frugally in their rented space (specifically, the former convent just west of the gym) on the church property, and work full time for social service organizations like Catholic Charities, JOIN, and El Programa Hispanico. Their jobs include work in refugee resettlement, shelters for the homeless and victims of domestic violence, etc. St. Henry support couples Nancy/Randy Molina and Jim/Mary Ann Buck provide a link between the volunteers and the parish.

To read about what’s going on with the volunteers, their work, and their reflections on their experiences, visit our blog at http://jvcsthenry.blogspot.com/. We hope you enjoy these stories, and will include the JVs and their clients in your prayers. Their presence among us is both an example and a challenge for those who want to really live the Gospel.
